"The deep, natural cracks found on the Northern side of the post, aren't imperfections; they are the "laugh lines" of a life spent outdoors, giving the piece its unique soul."
-Dorian
From a Stellenbosch gate post to a centrepiece of light, this desk lamp carries twenty years of South African history. For two decades, this solid Jarrah timber stood watch through Cape sun and storms. When the farmhouse was renovated in 2023, we rescued it from the scrap heap, choosing to honour its weathered character rather than let it fade away.
Standing 450mm high with a sturdy 200x200mm base, this 14kg lamp is a grounding, heavy-duty presence. We’ve paired the raw strength of the wood with a minimalist copper pipe fitting and a natural, eco-friendly finish that lets the grain breathe.
It’s more than a light fixture; it’s a continuation of a legacy. Honest, solid, and built to stand watch for another lifetime.
